Should you chase the Qantas points club?

Qantas has announced their new Points Club that everyone with a Frequent Flyer account is automatically enrolled.

Check your Qantas Points Club progress here to see if you’ve automatically qualified for Points Club or Points Club Plus.

Is it worth it?

The Points Club works on a two-tier system, designed to reward those who primarily earn Qantas points through spending rather than by flying.

I think this is a real plus for Qantas customers as like their Qantas Business Rewards program, the benefits on offer are an addition without taking anything away from the existing system.

HOW THE CLUB WORKS:

You reach the first “Points Club” tier, by collecting a minimum of 150,000 points in your Membership Year.

The second tier “Points Club Plus” is the highest level of the Club and is reached by collecting 350,000 points in a Membership Year.

The points that count towards reaching these tiers could be from credit card (direct earn) or transfers from other credit cards (indirect earn), banking, hotel bookings, car hire and purchasing points top-ups. Qantas will only count up to 20,000 points a year from flying towards this criteria of reaching the 150,000 or 350,000 points levels.

Why is it worth the chase?

Normally you don’t earn valuable status credits when booking Qantas classic reward flights, but now you can. This is now your ‘have your cake and eat it moment’.

Using points to fly Business and First class very cheaply plus earning status credits to keep you feeling like a rockstar and ahead of the plebs (funny emoji).
