Are you caught in the great Status credit rat race?

Are you an avid 'Status Chaser'?

You won't like this but the following isn't a secret, it is pretty obvious when you think about it.

From my research, I've worked out that the chasing status points IS like the rat race, it is the mainstream, it is what everyone else is doing.

The ironic thing is status chasers ARE trying to beat the rat race by using status levels to get into business or first-class exclusive lounges, priority boarding, and that chance of the upgrade. (the ultimate prize)

You are playing the loyalty game (the maze) in the way it designed for you to play.

Are you stuck doing the same thing, getting the same results?

Things like the Double Status Credit (DSC) offers that airlines promote is like a carrot 🥕, and a very eagerly awaited delicious carrot, judging by the salivation response on social media.

It is a sale, but not a sale, there is no financial discounts offered. But instead, there is the carrot 🥕 dangling in front. To entice with the possibility of getting into exclusive tiers to have the chance of getting the upgrade, getting a freebie. Encouraging you to bring forward your travel bookings, to add additional travel plans just to take advantage of the opportunity.

In fact, I think the DSC is a genius idea. I admire the invention of it - one of the best marketing you can get. (even better than giving away free beer on a hot summer day. Except they only give you the empty glass to hold at this stage, with promise you can get unlimited refills after you do a few more things)

For frequent flyer executives travelling on company dime - I'll have to admit, your options are limited. This is probably the best path you can take, because the company will normally pay for an economy ticket and hope you land in some shape to be able do the important tasks you were sent there to do.

"Put your hand up - If you want to fly economy..." - No one.

BUT - If you are a company director, if you have decision making control on how you fly, if you can decide how you pay for the flights.

I encourage you to think outside the box for a minute and discover a better option at your fingertips.

USING POINTS with a strategic intent - is an untapped competitive edge.

Personally, I'm Qantas bronze and I'm proud of it, because I rarely pay for a revenue fare that will earn status credits. (sorry Qantas Airline, but I do make lots of money for Qantas Loyalty via points).

My current status = Bronze.

My current status = Bronze.

I've been playing a different game, I think - a smarter game. This game is still within the construct of the loyalty programs rules, in the way it was intended. BUT playing with a strategic intent to get the rewards. Play to win.

I earn mountains of points, along with iFLYflat clients, from paying expenses on the right cards, then using the right points to book and fly First and Business class on confirmed seats.

While I don't earn any status credits when I fly First or Business - I already get all the benefits that having status would give access.

In fact these are benefits that were originally designed for the comfort of first and business class passengers, eg: the lounges, priority check-in, priority security, priority boarding and a fly flat seat.

I don’t have to wait for the revered upgrade SMS the day before I fly to know if I will be afforded a comfortable, restful or productive trip. (I've spoken to many who have restless sleep waiting for that SMS... is my phone working ok??)

Using points to fly business. I booked my tickets weeks or months ago.

I already know I'll be flying happy.

I already know I'll be flying flat.

Using points to fly allows you to remove the worries of price fluctuations or the costs of cancelling a non-refundable discount ticket. Using points to fly is more flexible than you think - but it is also highly complex.

As a founder/entrepreneur/small business owner - I've made the rules work for me, and since founded an entire business out of this niche, along with the ability to travel in comfort to anywhere in the world at a moments notice without once looking at the ticket prices.

My challenge: Are the rules playing you, or are you playing the rules?

Or are you too busy to improve?

At iFLYflat, we get your points working for you so you can experience the best of travel, without the grind.
